Couple Chemistry

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people make the stars beautiful to gaze upon. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.

We got together with some of our favorite people a few days ago, Matt and Stephanie Purcell. We could literally just sit and talk with them for hours. The four of us used to double date often until Matt started law school at Notre Dame. Catching up with the Purcell's is the best. We call it "Couple Chemistry" and we think we're pretty funny. :-)

Matt and Stephanie are going to be the best parents some day, and they have fought a long hard fight to do everything within their power regarding fertility treatments to start their family. If you are reading this, I petition you to say a prayer for this incredible, faithful couple at this particular time.

Love you both like a sister and brother. I know God has a very specific plan for you. Thank you for your stalwart examples, we are always praying for you.

Baby Prep

Little Miss A,

Your daddy backpacked King's Peak with your uncles this week. It was advisable for a pregnant lady not to embark on such an adventure, but let's be sure to do it with him when you're old enough, shall we?

You were such a good girl the night he came home! Maybe you were excited to hear his voice again, because you poked him a good dozen or so times. Did you have the hiccups? He just thinks you are the cutest, and I most certainly agree.

You know, Dad really loves you and wants your things to be beautiful. He sanded, conditioned, and stained your awesome (FREE!) crib. (Thank you again, McCall)
And he has a wee bit of perfectionisit in him, so it took him many many hours.

I have the best visiting teachers in the world, and they made this thoughtful gift for you! This is a chew guard, in hopes that you don't gnaw on your crib like most babies do. Instead of biting on random pieces of wood, just call for me and I'll come feed you, silly kid.

Nursery in the making. Goodness I am grateful for KSL. This perfect glider and footstool that matches your cherry wood crib only cost us $60.
I get so excited about the details, like seeing this chair in our cozy little apartment. Your presence will soon change everything and transform this place into even more of a home.

20 Weeks

Well Little Goose,

We've made it halfway.

We are so grateful that everything looks normal and that you are measuring well at your 20 week ultrasound. You seem to take after your mama so far: you are definitely NOT camera shy so the technician can never catch a side profile. You always look directly at us!

"Hello World!"
You're a healthy girl at 13.5 ounces already, and you are so active and full of life! I still get a thrill every time you poke me and flutter all over the place, which happens daily. Try not to follow your daddy's example with the whole birth weight thing...if you could just forget that he weighed 10 lbs. 15 oz. when he was born you'd do us both a huge favor.

In the mean time, I am so happy you are thriving while I remain active with exercise. I think you liked running in the Freedom Race with us this year. We finished a 5K right around 31 minutes which isn't so bad for a pregnant lady!

That was really sweet of your Daddy to stick with us at a slower pace. It's kind of against his nature you know.

There are many people who are anxious to meet you, like my dear friend McCall and her awesome family.
Good luck in Texas sweet McCally! Sheesh I'm gonna miss you.

And there are a good deal of people who already love you. Your sweet Aunty Alicia referred me here for a baby wrap, and the thought of holding you so close to me makes me even more excited to meet you. I bought the navy blue one right away, and I told your dad he's about to have two cuddle bugs on his hands!

Your daddy and I went and looked at infant car seats tonight. It's safe to say we have no clue what we're doing. We look at each other and just laugh. Then we often remind ourselves of one of our greatest mottos of life -

We're Just Learning.

It's hard to describe this love I have for someone I've never met. It intensifies with every dream about you and every day closer to November.

Cheers to the second half of my pregnancy! Ode to you, Little Goose.
