My 10-month old Daughter

My Amberly Faith,
At your last appointment you weighed 19 lbs 9 oz (67%)
You were 27.75 inches long (40%)
And your head circumference was 17.5 (59%)

Your hair is growing beautifully.

You turned 9 months old while we were vacationing in Hawaii, and your four upper teeth popped out of nowhere. You get really offended when I brush your teeth. Sorry we have to do hard things, Love.
You are the cutest little person I have ever seen. And I can say that honestly because I am your mother! Look at this little face!
We thought it would be funny to give you a lime and then you showed Mom and Dad up by LOVING the taste of it. You are a superstar about eating solid foods now. It took some practice, but whatever Mama and Daddy eat, you'll gladly eat! You never really enjoyed baby food, so we just sort of skipped that stage altogether! You are Little Miss Independent and insist on feeding yourself. Sometimes you get mad when we try to spoon-feed you and hit our hand away, or try to grab the spoon and do it yourself, Smarty Pants.

You love Mondays because you get to "help" me out with the laundry. It's one of your favorite games I think.
And I love every day because I get to spend it with you. Every morning Daddy leaves for work I am grateful to stay home with you. You are the best job I've ever had, hands down.

We really missed this guy this past summer as he worked full-time and studied for the bar exam when he wasn't at work! It's been so fun having him back in our lives! We love to visit him when we can, and our tradition of Wednesday lunches up in Bountiful has become a favorite.

In your sleep, sitting up, on your tummy, or lying on your back, your feet are almost always crossed.
What a Dainty Little Lady!
You are too adorable, I can't handle it!

You are fascinated with pens, buttons, watches, clocks, glasses, and of course your baby doll. We bought you a bigger dollie and you never let her out of your sight if you can help it.

You often say "Ma ma ma" "da da da da" and "bah. Bah"

You make a really drawn out, loud sound that we've lovingly nicknamed your pterodactyl cry (had to look up the spelling on that one!) It's pretty entertaining during church

The entire last row of Relief Society sisters often passes you around and lets you entertain/charm them for the entire lesson. I hope the teacher doesn't mind. All I know is you come back to my arms smelling strongly of old lady perfume. Everyone adores you.

There is no sweeter sound in the world than your giggle.

You know how to sign for Milk and you get really excited when I sign it for you.

You are an angel baby. You come with me each week to my cello lesson and sit there and play with your toys contently. I think you must like cello music. Daddy also wanted to see "Guardians of the Galaxy" so we took a chance on you two weeks ago to see how you'd do at the theatre. You were amazing! Seriously. I kept you entertained with snacks and your baby doll and pens and you just sat on my lap the entire time. You even watched a good portion of the movie with me.

You still aren't interested in crawling, or maybe you just don't really understand it. You are a little Roley Poley though, and you have your own special ways of getting around on the ground. It's pretty funny. And now that you are more mobile, nap time can be tricky some days! For example, this day when I thought you were fast asleep and peeked in on you, here is what I found.
Trying to pull off the innocent face.

You have successfully flown on an airplane three times, and you did so like a pro! Hawaii was a dream, and it was so fun for Daddy to take you where he grew up.

Your very first time in the Ocean.

Daddy really wants to start you young...
Melting Hawaiian hearts everywhere we went.

 Polynesian Cultural Center

You aren't much of a snuggler and you rarely fall asleep in anyone's arms, but Hawaii was the exception to that little trend of yours. The humidity (LOVE your curls, compliments of me-self), the time difference, and all the energy expended left you exhausted. You did so well in Hawaii though, Little One.

Baths at the beach house in Hawaii.

It took us at least a week to adjust back to Utah time, but eventually we got back in the swing of things! And now we're just sad this warm weather will be leaving us, so we have a Sunday tradition of relaxing outside when we can. You still LOVE the outdoors, playing with leaves, touching the grass, looking at birds and airplanes.

And I don't know if my heart can handle it, the love that continues to grow for you each day. At ten months, you are still nursing and I am so grateful because on some days that's my only chance to cuddle you.

You feel like a piece of heaven here in our home and hearts. It seems I'll blink and you'll already be a year old. I am just trying to soak in every standstill moment with you that I can.

Wedding Day for my Chelsea Rae

She walked into the sealing room with her man in the Bountiful Temple, and I couldn't help but be overcome with emotion. My cousin Chelsea has been through the refiner's fire when it comes to dating and her previous engagement a few years back, to make a very long story short. And because I grew up with this darling girl and we're only two years apart, I have always been protective of her and longed for the best things for her. I remember one time when she was dating the wrong kind of guy while she attended high school in Oregon and I flat out asked her "What are you doing?"

Since then, she has been through some major growing experiences that have molded her into the woman she is today. And Chels is elated to be married to Logan Bench, an honest man who honors his priesthood and will always treat her with respect and love. I am so happy for her.

And I sat there reflecting on these things during her sealing ceremony, which was so beautiful. I could feel Chelsea's father in that room, my Uncle Rae, who passed away from colon cancer many years ago. I strongly believe that he has been her guardian angel these many years, and that Chelsea avoided some devastating pitfalls because of his watchful care. I am so grateful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, that binds our families together for time and all eternity.
What Joy.

 Loves for the bride
They had their luncheon at La Jolla Groves in Salt Lake after the sealing ceremony.
(Score!! Remember how that is currently my very favorite restaurant? Excellent choice!)

I love being a bridesmaid with this pretty girl.

And I love getting dolled up for this handsome guy.
I don't really spend time on my hair anymore except for special occasions. Let's be honest, I'd rather work out in the morning than waste time taming the wild beast...luckily Jon loves me always.

Too much leg Rach, calm it on down

Cousin's Pic!

Too bright, posted it anyway

The bell of the ball (after the bride of course)

And I decided I better make this a tradition...

I accidentally stood on the wrong side but you get the idea.

I am so proud of Chelsea for the person she has become, and I am so so so so so happy for Mr. and Mrs. Bench!

Aloha Hawaii 2014

I finally finished my Shutterfly book of our incredible vacation to Hawaii! You can look at my photo book here if you'd like to take a peak. Thank you again to my wonderful in-laws for making this happen. Alicia and I know that we totally scored marrying into the Ditto family first, because this might be the last major trip to the island they do together.

A few favorite moments in Hawaii:
  • Early morning jogs (yay for the four hour time difference! It was so easy to wake up for the sunrise and I loved running all over Laie. I totaled over 23 miles for the whole trip)
  • Turtle Falls and Maunawili Falls
  • Shark's Cove - beautiful
  • My blueberry acai bowl with fruit, honey, and granola- can't find anything as good in the mainland so far
  • Waimea Beach
  • Cliff jumping at Waimea and the Point
  • Seeing Jon's elementary school, high school, and the home he grew up in
  • Crabbing
  • Being with all my rad in-laws under the same roof
  • Laie Temple
  • Reading by the beach
  • Relief that Jon finished the bar exam and I have a husband again!

ALOHA.
